The ones I hear about are:
* Application applicability (apart from within specific niche
markets, and particular niche applications within those niche markets,
there are no grid general applications for 'business')
* Licensing (from both the vendor and the consumer sides. E.g.
from the vendor side, how do you recognize the revenue if it is
pay-as-you-go. From the consumer side - how do you know if you are
getting a good deal, etc.)
* Cycle stealing vs. dedicated hardware (Certain markets, e.g.
financial, find it easier to buy hardware specifically for their grid
applications as cycle-stealing from desktops etc, is too risky.)
* Security (Both within an enterprise and also when data travels

Subject: [gmac] Request for Media Topics
Mark and I would like to solicit your help to identify a short list of
media topics related to constraints to grid adoption. As part of our
increased emphasis on communicating GGF's value, we recently engaged
Bridgeman Communications, a Boston PR/AR firm, to help us develop
materials and enhance GGF's visibility among media and analyst
Bridgeman is developing a series of "Media Resource Alerts", which are
alternative to press releases in that they can probe the media's
in several topics instead of just one. These alerts include a 3-4
list of key topics that the media might want to develop into a story
would naturally come to GGF for information and advise).
Would you be so kind as to reply with a short list of topics that either
the media is *about to talk about* (in reference to grids and grid
adoption) OR the media *SHOULD be talking about* as a potential
to grid adoption.
One example that has been in the press recently is the issue of current
enterprise software licensing schemes that may be challenged when
enterprises virtualize resources. The 451 Group recently released a
on this topic.
At this point, we need to resist the temptation to have a white paper or
deep understanding of the topics we suggest, as this can be developed or
other resources tapped to gain the required insight for comment. We
want to develop a pipeline of topics that you believe are critical
to grid adoption.
Thank you for your feedback and I will share the results in the near
