MEETING MINUTES

Presentation was made by co-chair Greg Newby in room 
DCH-30.  Due to a last minute room change, a few people
arrived late.  The meeting started at 3:30 pm.

1)  Welcome and IP reminder 

  Introductions around the room; brief discussion of interests in
  information retrieval

2)  Group overview and status 

  History of GIR-RG; role of grid computing for information retrieval

3)  Document status 

  Status of forthcoming experimental document, future planned documents.

4)  Past research activities for Grid Information Retrieval 

  Overview of work previously presented, undertaken jointly by the
  co-chairs and colleagues; mention of non-OGF publications & presentations

5)  Current research projects underway 

  Some detail on current efforts at each of the co-chairs' institutions:
  ARSC, Dongguk U. and RENCI.

6)  Any other business

  Open discussion concerning the role of grid standards for GIR,
  mention of different datasets and middleware for facilitating
  information retrieval.
